Nordic Film Days Lübeck came to their end yesterday, its two directors Christian Modersbach (Festival Management) and Linde Fröhlich (Artistic Direction) struck a positive balance. The total audience numbers of 27,900 have reached a new high level for the festival and mirror the audience enthusiasm for films from Scandinavia, the Baltic States and Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg. Lübeck, 2 Nov. 2013 – Films from Sweden, Norway and Denmark as well as Estonia were the big prize-winners at the 55th Nordic Film Days Lübeck. At the gala awards ceremony in Theater Lübeck a total of eight prizes were given to nine winning films. The NDR Film Prize, endowed with 12,500 Euros goes this year ex aequo to two films: “I Am Yours” (Jeg er din) by Norwegian director Iram Haq, which has already been nominated as Norway’s candidate for the Academy Awards, and “Northwest” (Nordvest) by Danish filmmaker Michael Noer. Nordic Film Days Lübeck, considered the most important showcase for new films from Scandinavia and the Baltic States, featured director Benedikt Erlingsson cheerfully presenting his film OF HORSES AND MEN to the Lübeck audience. Lübeck, 25.10.13 - The Retrospective “North!wards: Spitsbergen and the Path to the Pole” of the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck (30.10.-03.11.13) has included three further films on its programme. The short film trilogy by the Norwegian director Knut Erik Jensen, consisting of the films “Svalbard in the World” (1983), “Cold World” (1986) and “My World” (1987) is being shown on Friday, 1. Lübeck, 22.10.13 – The “Lübeck Meetings” at the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck (30.10.-03.11.13) are hosting an international industry get-together and industry screenings on 31. October and 1. November. Buyers are once again given the opportunity, on both days, to view film productions from the Nordic countries that have not yet been exploited or have not yet found international distributors. The industry meeting is a one-of-a-kind platform for Scandinavian film productions only. Lübeck, 26.09.13 – Documentary films have always played an important role at Nordic Film Days Lübeck (30.10.- 03.11.13) and the Filmforum, the festival’s North German section, underlined by the introduction of the Documentary Film Prize of the Lübeck Trade Unions in 1991. In order to further emphasize the importance of the genre and to give new impulses for documentary work, the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck (in cooperation with Filmwerkstatt Kiel of FFHSH and DGB) are now hosting a Documentary Film Day. The two directors of this year’s Nordic Film Days Lübeck, Linde Fröhlich (Artistic Director) and Christian Modersbach (Festival Manager) are very content with the 54. edition of the festival, which ended on Sunday, November 4th. Boasting an audience of around 27,500, the participation at Nordic Film Days Lübeck had increased slightly since last year. The year 2012 thus proved once more that there is a very enthusiastic and receptive audience for films from Scandinavia, the Baltic States and northern Germany. More
