Linde Fröhlich Is Awarded Royal Norwegian Order of Merit

The decoration will officially take place on Saturday, 3. November 2012, at 10.30am, within the framework of a film screening at the 54. Nordic Film Days Lübeck (31.10. – 04.11.2012) at the festival cinema CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle. The guests will be greeted by Annette Borns, the Hanseatic City’s Senator for Culture, before His Excellency Sven E. Svedman, Ambassador at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Berlin, will present the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit to Linde Fröhlich for her “commendable services to cultural relations between Norway and Germany, especially in the field of film”. After the decoration, there will be a presentation of the Oscar-winning documentary film “Kon-Tiki” (Norway 1950).

Nordic Film Days Lübeck, under the artistic direction of Linde Fröhlich since 2001, has been committed to north European cinema since 1956, and has evolved into Europe’s most significant festival of its kind. Every autumn, the Hanseatic City of Lübeck becomes a meeting point for filmmakers from the Nordic countries, the Baltic States and Schleswig-Holstein, as well as attracting an audience of more than 25,000 people throughout the five festival days. This year features a total of 24 Norwegian films amongst the festival’s 149 contributions.

Nordic Film Days Lübeck is hosted by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in cooperation with the film institutes and film foundations of Scandinavia and the film institutions of the Baltic States. The festival is under the patronage of the ambassadors of the Nordic countries in Germany. The Norwegian actress and director Liv Ullman is its honorary president. The festival’s media partners are Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and Lübecker Nachrichten (LN). Altogether eight prizes are awarded annually at the Film Days.
