The “Lübeck Meetings” industry get-togethers present the Nordic-German co-production meeting “KIDS’ FILMS ON TOUR” and the Documentary Film Day at the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck

Lübeck, 22.10.13 – The “Lübeck Meetings” at the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck (30.10.-03.11.13) are hosting an international industry get-together and industry screenings on 31. October and 1. November. Buyers are once again given the opportunity, on both days, to view film productions from the Nordic countries that have not yet been exploited or have not yet found international distributors. The industry meeting is a one-of-a-kind platform for Scandinavian film productions only. An additional, extensive support programme provides opportunities to exchange information on the latest developments on the German and Nordic film markets.

In cooperation with the Norwegian Film Institute, the Finnish Film Foundation, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and MEDIA Desk Germany, “Lübeck Meetings” is hosting the “KIDS' FILMS ON TOUR - Nordic-German Co-Production and Distribution Meeting” on Thursday, 31.10.13 from 10.30am to 3.30pm. By example of selected case studies, children’s film experts from the fields of production, distribution, film funding and trade associations look into the issue of under what conditions children’s films are not only successful in their homeland, but also throughout the rest of Europe.

Christian Modersbach (Festival Manager) and Linde Fröhlich (Artistic Direction), the two directors of Nordic Film Days Lübeck, on the current programme: “We are very happy at being able to put together a programme of such thematic intensity and varied content this year, making Nordic Film Days Lübeck a platform for Nordic-German encounters. All parties can profit from each other in many ways, particularly in the area of children’s films.”

On Friday, 1. November, the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck are hosting a Documentary Film Day in cooperation with Filmwerkstatt Kiel of FFHSH and DGB. There will be a master class with director Joshua Oppenheimer (“The Act of Killing”) as well as an afternoon discussion panel with international documentary film experts. The master class is supported by Haus des Dokumentarfilms / Europäisches Medienforum Stuttgart and kulturLink Fehmarnbeltregion.

Afterwards, MEDIA Desk Germany is hosting its MEDIA Meetings for producers from the Nordic and Baltic countries and from Germany, where they can present their projects and find partners within the framework of a reception and a co-production meeting.

The support programme of the 55. Nordic Film Days Lübeck includes a media pedagogical seminar by Bundes- und Landesverbands Jugend und Film, during which selected children’s and youth films from Scandinavia and the Baltic States are viewed and discussed with a group of experts. The ensuing recommendations for Scandinavian and Baltic films are highly valued by German distributors and media pedagogues.

On Saturday, 02.11. at 11am, Filmwerkstatt Kiel of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH) is hosting an industry film breakfast at Kunstcafé St. Annen.
