Lübeck, 10. October 2013 – Within the framework of the 55. festival edition, Nordic Film Days Lübeck and its long-standing media partner NDR present nine Scandinavian classics on public television. Fans of Scandinavian cinema and the NDR audience can look forward to watching pearls of Nordic film and TV production on seven nights between 2. and 18. November 2013. They include gripping thrillers, a crime series and moving dramas that expertly examine past and contemporary topics of Scandinavian society.
The film series starts on 2. November at 11.05pm with “Skandinavische Kriminacht” (lit: “Scandinavian Crime Film Night”). It opens with the successful Swedish thriller THE LAKE (director: Hans Ake Gabrielsson) from 1999, and carries on into the night with the gripping two-part THE WIDE NET (director: Martin Asphaug), after the bestselling novels by Håkan Nesser. The series continues on 3. November 2013 at 12.05am with the Icelandic thriller REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM: DEADLY CARGO by Oskar Jonasson, which competed at the 51. Nordic Film Days in 2009.
Master director Jan Troell provides emotional narrative cinema on 4. November at 11.15pm with EVERLASTING MOMENTS, starring Mikael Persbrandt and Maria Heiskanen. On 10. November at 12.05am the audience can see MORENO AND THE SILENCE, another Nesser adaptation, and on 11. November at 11.15pm the highly acclaimed tragicomedy A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN by Hans Petter Moland, starring Stellan Skarsgard.
On 17. November at 12.35am, LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (director: Tomas Alfredson) presents a furioso mixture of vampire film, love story and social study after the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It was previously featured at the 2008 Nordic Film Days Lübeck. The film series closes on 18. November at 11.15pm with the tv premiere oft he German-Finnish NDR co-production PLAYGROUND (director: Toni Laine), starring Sibel Kekilli.
