In her impressive studio with a view of the majestic mountains of the Faroe Islands, Sigrun Gunnarsdóttir is gluing bubble wrap over the windows: the artist finds the view distracting from her work. The most popular contemporary artist on the Faroe Islands, she is starting a new painting. Her idiosyncratic figurative and simultaneously surreal style, full of symbolic and religious undertones, has brought Sigrun Gunnarsdóttir great renown, both in her homeland and abroad. This documentary shows the artist in her home environment, immersing the audience in her colourful world. The film accompanies her as, among other things, she does the artwork for the new maternity ward of the local hospital, and creates a commissioned portrait of the Danish queen. Scenes from Gunnarsdóttir's everyday life, animations of her paintings, and short conversations with her husband come together to create a loving portrait of an artist who knows exactly how she wants to live and work.
