Lübeck Meetings

NF23 03.11. FUTURE NORTH 2CHR_0943a

The Lübeck Meetings bring together all events organised in collaboration with our partners for industry professionals from Germany and abroad during the Nordic Film Days Lübeck.

Our aim is to offer filmmakers and industry delegates from Germany, the Nordics and Baltics an inspiring framework for exchange, dialogue and collaboration. In addition to film policy debates, masterclasses and panel discussions, the programme offers a wide range of networking opportunities, making the festival a vibrant hub for the German, Nordic and Baltic film industries.

At its heart is the talent programme Future North, which since 2023 has provided a platform for emerging directors from the Baltic states, the Sámi region, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Schleswig-Holstein. In public work-in-progress screenings, the selected talents present early excerpts of their projects and receive feedback from both industry experts and the Lübeck audience. This format enables genuine exchange and offers insights into creative development processes.

Another key element is the Lübeck Film Studies Colloquium, which has been organised for many years in cooperation with the Journal of Scandinavian Cinema. It brings together international scholars and film enthusiasts, placing academic perspectives at the centre of the conversation.

For German industry guests working in distribution, broadcasting and rights acquisition, the festival offers a valuable opportunity to discover films from the programme with an eye to the German market. They benefit from privileged access to screenings and experience the films alongside the Lübeck audience. For those unable to attend in person, many titles can also be viewed online. In this way, we aim to actively support the circulation of the festival films on the German market again in 2025.
