The platform for emerging talents from Northern Europe

Since 2023, Future North has been part of the Lübeck Meetings, the industry platform of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck. The programme is aimed at emerging directors from the three Baltic states, Greenland, the Sámi region, the Faroe Islands and Schleswig-Holstein. Its goal is to support young filmmakers in taking their first steps onto the international festival and industry stage while actively fostering their connections within the European film network.

At the heart of Future North is the presentation of a current project in the form of a work-in-progress. Each selected talent presents up to 15 minutes of material, regardless of whether it is part of a short or feature-length film, whether fiction, documentary or experimental. These public presentations are followed by feedback sessions with international industry experts and the Lübeck audience, creating space for dialogue, reflection and constructive critique.

In addition to these sessions, the participants take part in a curated selection of festival events – including masterclasses, industry seminars, exclusive salons and networking opportunities. This makes Future North a space for professional exchange within the framework of the festival.

Future North is committed to promoting creative diversity in European cinema – and invites audiences and professionals alike to discover the voices of a new generation from the far North, right here in Lübeck.
