Tillsammans! / Together! / Zusammen!

In 1975 Stockholm, housewife Elisabeth separates from her alcoholic husband Rolf and takes their two children to live with her brother Göran in a commune at the edge of the city. There, in an idyllic wooden house, a group of dropouts and dissidents have gathered together, and Elisabeth discovers a whole new world. Göran is in an open relationship with Lena, who is also sleeping with Eric. Anna now prefers women, but still lives with Lasse and their son Tet in the commune. Then there are Klas, Signe, Sigvard, and their son Måne. Elisabeth’s open demeanour shakes up the social fabric of the house, while her children slowly settle in. But Elisabeth’s ex, Rolf, wants to win his family back … Moodysson’s comedy is an ironic and warm-hearted look at characters wrestling with their personal development and a functioning collective life. The film is particularly sensitive in the way it deals with the perspective of the children. “Together 99”, which opens this year’s NFL, is set in the same commune 24 years later.
