YOUTH TOPIA

Vanya lives in Valpolvra, an industrial city where an algorithm assigns people the jobs that suit them. Until it does, you remain young; no self-improvement pressure, no responsibility, just endless hanging out, partying, and drifting. When the young woman receives notice that the perfect job has been found for her, she begins her new, adult, life, which includes many privileges. She gets her own apartment, is appreciated at the architecture firm where she works, and starts a relationship. But is this all there is? She misses her messed-up friends, misses just being together, carefree. But the long-term youth aren’t interested in fitting into her new world. Vanya struggles with her role as an adult. With a colourful Instagram aesthetic, the film examines growing up, the pressure of self-fulfilment on the job, and the value of community in our capitalist society shaped by work.
