Paula’s dreams are about to come true. Her final exams are coming up. The young girl has worked her way up from supporting part to a major role, and the privileged world of lead characters is within grasp. Her father too was a shining star – though she only knows him from the stories of her mother, who was destined to play merely a bit part in this film world. Yet something is amiss with Paula’s emotions. She can’t manage to create the right sweeping music to accompany her life. Her search for her father, and for a solution to her problem, leads her to the precipices and sideshows of this fantastic film world, to the movie mistakes and outtakes that have no place in the story. Adventurous and full of love for cinematic storytelling, the film creates a starkly dystopian and hierarchical world that we experience through Paula’s eyes. How can social justice and diversity thrive when the roles have been pre-assigned?
