Ljósbrot / When the Light Breaks

Diddi and Una are enjoying the sunset by the sea. Though nobody knows it yet, the art students have recently become a couple. When Diddi dies in a catastrophic fire, Una initially remains alone with her grief.
The story takes place on a single day of extreme emotions. Diddi's friends are in shock. Klara, his girlfriend since childhood, arrives from the provinces. The others embrace and comfort her, while Una stands forlornly on the periphery. Nonetheless, the self-confident young woman exposes herself to the situation, raising a glass to Diddi with his clique. The gathering culminates in a spontaneous party, with the mourners expressing their despair in extravagant dancing. Different ways of mourning are juxtaposed and flow into one another. The mourners' need to share the loss of a loved one becomes more important than their own histories with the deceased. In just 24 hours, Una experiences grief and friendship as well as pain and beauty.
