Elin and Daniel collide like two different universes. She’s a Sámi who fights for environmental rights, he openly criticizes “woke society” and trolls climate activists on the web. But despite their opposing lifeworlds, each of them thinks the other has a certain something. When a company wants to open a copper mine in the remote area where they live, it promises workplaces and economic recovery. But there’s also a danger that the area’s delicate ecosystem will be destroyed, and with it the habitat of the reindeer that Elin’s family has herded for generations. Unemployment, protests, the question of the future of rural Norway, and a far-reaching decision all hover threateningly over the budding relationship. And it doesn’t make it any easier that both young people have their own struggles within their families. Can Elin and Daniel nevertheless hold onto their connection? A fictional series that takes a nuanced and visually compelling look at current developments in the north of Norway.
