In just two weeks, the 67th Nordic Film Days Lübeck will begin on 5–9 November 2025
Ticket sales for the 67th Nordic Film Days Lübeck begin on Saturday October 25, 2025 at Theater Lübeck and online
The 67th Nordic Film Days Lübeck begin in just two weeks. The festival, which focusses on films from northern and northeast Europe, will open this year on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 with the German premiere of “The Last Viking” directed by Anders Thomas Jensen. The festival runs through November 9, presenting a total of 191 films in 226 screenings.
Advance ticket sales start on Saturday, October 2025 at 3:00 pm, this year for the first time at TheaterLübeck, where the mezzanine foyer will be turned into a café where guests can mingle. Alongside the Theater Lübeck, tickets will also go on sale online for all the public screenings. Advance sales at the theatre will continue from October 28 to November 1, and on November 4. Starting on November 5 when the festival opens, through the end of the festival, tickets can be purchased at the CineStar Kino Stadthalle at Mühlenbrücke 11.
The new NFL ticketing system has a host of advantages: no advance sales fees and cashless transactions, and for the first time, discounted tickets will be available online. In addition to half-price tickets, any unsold seats will be available for free to university students upon presentation of a Theatercard Jung (from Theater Lübeck) and a student I.D.
About 100 films from the programme line-up will be available for streaming by audiences all over Germany. The streaming starts on Nov. 5 at 7:00 pm and will continue until Sunday, Nov. 16, a full week after the end of the festival.
Detailed ticketing information and the full price list is available at the NFL website.
Increasing accessibility continues to be an important goal for the Nordic Film Days. In addition to streaming, which makes festival films accessible to people with limited mobility, a range of services will be available for the blind, the deaf, and those with visual or hearing impairment. To allow more people the opportunity to partake of cultural events, some screenings will be offered with audio description and SDH subtitles. In addition, the screening and the following Q&A for “The Last Whale Singer” on November 8 will feature simultaneous translation into German sign language. The programme will also once again include screenings with sensory adaptation suitable for neuro-diverse people (i.e. reduced lights, lower audio volume).

A total of twelve jury prizes, including the audience prize, with a total endowment of 67,500 euros will be awarded at the festival, in addition to the unendowed Honorary Award, which this year goes to Norwegian director Bent Hamer. The honorary prize will be awarded at the opening night ceremony on November 5, 2025, while the rest of the awards will be presented on November 8 during the gala Prize Night at Theater Lübeck.
The Lübeck Script Development Grant goes into its third year, and the new recipients will be introduced during the opening night ceremonies on November 05, 2025.
The Nordic Film Days Lübeck is once again showcasing films from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Sápmi, and Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein. The festival is especially pleased to be screening several movies submitted for the Oscar for best international film, including “Mr. Nobody Against Putin” (Denmark), “Walls – Akinni Inuk” (Greenland), and “The Love That Remains” (Iceland).
The Filmforum section will present its palette of films from northern Germany, including director Steffen Goldkamp’s feature debut “Rain Fell on the Nothing New”.
And Immersion 360° in the Infinity Dome at Klingenberg Square showcases immersive media works, not least of all the German premiere of the installation “Life in the Generation Ship” by internationally-renowned artist Yael Bartana. The work was shown in 2024 in the German pavilion at the Venice Biennale and can be seen for free here in Lübeck during the Nordic Film Days.
Meanwhile the Young Audience section welcomes young (and old) on a voyage of discovery through a diversity of worlds, with a multitude of short and long films, as well as special screenings for children.
This year’s Retrospective will open with the biopic “Zorn” by Gunnar Hellström. Another highlight of the section are the two silent film concerts. The screening of “A Man There Was” will be accompanied live by an ensemble from Lübeck’s music academy (MHL), while “A Norwegian Lass” will be enhanced with the music of Daniel Sorour.
Lübeck Meetings is where the film industry gets together during the festival; it covers a range of interesting events and discussions, some of which are open to the public.
