Accessibility

Under the Motto "Cinema for all", the Nordic Film Days want to break down existing barriers and make the festival more inclusive. To invite as wide an audience as possible to participate in culture, the following offers are available for this year's edition of the festival:

When searching for films, you can filter for accessible events and screenings:

  • Selected films in the festival programme that were previously only subtitled in English will be provided with German SDH subtitles for deaf and hearing impared people. Extended German subtitles are also suitable for people who prefer to watch films in German.
  • Selected events will feature live sign language interpretation.
  • Films with audio description (for the visually impaired) are available, particularly at the Filmforum.
  • The Filmforum programme mainly shows films in their original German version.
  • We offer sensory-adapted screenings to accommodate the needs of neurodivergent people. For example, designated screenings feature earlier admission, dimmed lights and reduced volume during the screening. In the Young Audience section, all films aimed at audiences under the age of 14 are supplemented by live German voice-over in addition to subtitles in English or German. Headphones are available in auditoriums 1 and 2 of the CineStar Stadthalle, allowing the films to be heard in the original language.
