Guided by the motto "Cinema for all", we seek to break down existing barriers and make the festival more accessible. To invite as wide an audience as possible, we offer the below accommodations at this year's edition. Towards the end of the page you can find information on how to get your ticket and on the accessibility of our festival locations.

Accessibility at Nordic Film Days

  • Audio description

    Selected films are available with German audio description. To access audio description we give out headsets. Please take note of the changes to our programme mentioned above.
    Additionally, for some films the app Greta & Starks offers audio description. Please download and log in before attending the screening. More information to follow soon.

  • German SDH

    We screen selected films with German SDH. These subtitles are specifically written with D/deaf and hard of hearing people in mind, but can be useful to hearing visitors as well. Please take note of the changes to our programme mentioned above.

  • Live Translation (German)

    Films directed at those under the age of 14 in our section "Young Audience" screen with either live translation into German or German dubbing. In CineStar Stadthalle, screening rooms 1 and 2, you can listen to the original version by using a headset.

  • Audio induction loop

    At KOLK17, people with hearing aids or cochlear implants can connect to the audio induction loop, or T coil, in order to listen to the film's soundtrack. You can find further information on KOLK17's webpage—click here for link.

  • Sensory friendly screenings

    Look at the symbols in our programme to find sensory friendly screenings. At these screenings, entry starts earlier, the lights don't get turned off (only dimmed), and sound volume is reduced. You can talk, move around, and leave the screening room at your liking.

  • Content notes

    We inform you about senstive subjects in our programme—on each film's respective web page right below the synopsis and with this overview: click here for link.

  • Accompanying Persons

    You can bring an accompanying person if you're in a wheelchair and/or have the letter B in your German disability card (or your international equivalent). Please get in touch early on to reserve a seat and get a free ticket for your accompanying person.

  • Service animals

    You can bring your service animal to the cinema. If you wish to do so, we ask you to please get in touch with us early on.

  • Catalogue and festival journal

    Our festival catalogue (side-by-side in German and English) is available as an accessible, screen-reader friendly pdf. It can also be ordered as print on demand. The festival journal (only in German) with daily timetables is available in print by the time ticketing starts. The journal is also available in pdf format.   • Nordic Film Days VOD

    You can enjoy about half the festival's programme from home via our video on demand service. (Click here for link.) Included are subtitles and, for films directed at those under the age of 14, a recording of the live German translation. For licensing reasons, we can only offer this service within Germany.

    Look for the screenings you wish to attend in our programme. The icons tell you which services we offer at each screening.

  • Step 2

    Get in contact

    Tell us about your preferred screenings, your individual needs and how many seats you wish to book. You can send us an e-mail using inklusion@nordische-filmtage.de or you can call us at +49 (0) 451 122 1322.

  • Step 3

    Get your booking confirmation

    We'll reserve your seat, get you a free ticket for your accompanying person and make sure you can bring your service animal. You'll recieve your booking confimation via e-mail.

  • At the cinema

    Persons with the code GdB 80 in their German disability card (or international equivalents) receive a discount of 50 percent. Please have your disability card with you when entering the venue.

  • wheelchair spaces: two each in screening rooms 1 and 2, five in screening room 4

  • German live translation for programmes directed at those under 14

CineStar Filmhaus

CineStar Filmhaus is only a location for our Schulkino programme, directed at schools.

  • entry without stairs only possible via patio.
  • wheelchair spaces: up to four in screening room 1

  • German live translation for programmes directed at those under 14
     

Koki – Kommunales Kino

  • entry without stairs only possible via patio (access: Gerade Querstraße).
  • wheelchair spaces: two. Please note: only wheelchairs with a width of 64 cm or below can fit through.
  • accessible restroom in neighboring building. Access via patio, key is needed.

  • entry without stairs via main entrance. Please note: You cannot get to KOLK17's main entrance without the sidewalking ending for a street crossing or getting too small to accommodate wheelchairs or rollators.
