The Lübeck Script Development Grant will be funded by the Possehl Foundation for another three years

Lübeck November 6. - The Possehl Foundation will fund the Lübeck Script DevelopmentGrant for a further three years. The decision was announced by the foundation’s chair, Prof. Dr Wolfgang Sandberger, during the opening ceremonies of the 67th Nordic Film Days, which included naming the two recipients of this year’s grants. The foundation sponsors two projects each year, amounting to € 465,000.

In making the decision public, Sandberger said, “This programme, unique in Germany, which provides intensive support for the development of new film projects, established itself immediately. Based on the work that has been done and the success of the grant, the Possehl Foundation has decided to endow another three years of the Lübeck Script Development Grant”.

Lübeck’s senator for culture, Monika Frank, expressed her delight at the decision, saying “I thank the Possehl Foundation for renewing its financial commitment to the Lübeck Script Development Grant. Within a very short time, the programme has greatly enriched not only the Nordic Film Days, but also the standing of Lübeck in general”.

The grant has been awarded three times since 2023. The recipients in the first two years were Annika Pinske, Gesine Danckwart, Angelina Maccarone, and Anne Döring. This year the two grants, of € 35,000 each, are going to Laurens Pérol, as well as the writing duo of Kristina Dreit and Felix Röben. In addition to the monetary grant, the foundation will also provide the recipients with individualised advice, including script consulting, as well as residency, research, and networking opportunities in Lübeck and at the Nordic Film Days festival. The Lübeck Script Development Grant is implemented in cooperation with the non-profits Kino Koki repertory cinema and the Waldzimmer cultural association, as well as the Willy-Brandt-Haus and Lübeck’s city library. One special aspect of the Lübeck Script Development Grant is an open exchange with the city’s public. Anyone who is interested can attend workshop discussions, curated film series, and script readings, participating directly in the creative process. The recipients will also be actively networked with local filmmakers and players in the cultural scene.
