Jenni Zylka takes over as new curator of the „Series" section at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck
Lübeck, April 15th, 2024. Jenni Zylka steps into the role of curator of the section for TV series at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck. The culture journalist and writer commented “I love serial storytelling, especially work from the Nordic and Baltic countries, which are known for their excellent TV series. I always end up binge-watching, drawn by the way a series can touch you with its comprehensive storytelling. I look forward to discovering and discussing with Lübeck audiences new, episodic stories”.Zylka lives in Berlin, where she is a member of the selection committee for the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival and a freelance journalist, writing primarily on film, serial storytelling, and music. Her articles, reviews, and commentary have been published or aired in the Spiegel newsmagazine, taz, Tagespiegel, Freitag, epd Film, Rolling Stone, RBB, MDR, WDR, ZDF, and Deutschlandradio. She was the head curator of the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section at the Berlinale, where she is delegated with shepherding films by young German filmmakers, she also worked for the festival’s Series Days, and has moderated panels on TV series at festivals and media conferences. Since 1999, Zylka has been on the jury of Germany’s prestigious Grimme television prize; she also analyses content for the FSF TV ratings board, and writes for the media watch blog Altpapier.Zylka takes over from Wendy Mitchell who has headed up the section since 2022. “We are grateful to Wendy for her commitment.” said festival directors Thomas Hailer and Susanne Kasimir, adding “The section is now very well positioned, not least of all due to her broad network.
