Lübeck, Sept. 18, 2024. The first year of the Lübeck Script Development Grant has been completed. The first two recipients, Annika Pinske and Gesine Danckwart, publicly presented the projects that they have been developing since November 2023, and talked about their experiences in Lübeck, the people they met, the things that inspired them, trips to museums, theatres, and church towers, not to mention enjoying the Hanseatic specialties lobscouse and marzipan.

The Nordic Film Days Lübeck, with the generous support of the Possehl Foundation, initiated the programme in 2023 – two grants, one for a new theatrical film project and one for an open-format visual story for any platform. Annika Pinske received the grant for her narrative script Im Fluss (River Flux), and Gesine Danckwart for her project Herzkammer - Ein Escape-Room für Fortschreitende (Chamber of the Heart – an escape room for progressives).

“In its first year, the Lübeck Script Development Grant not only attracted high-calibre submissions from the German-language region”, said Max Schön, chairman of the Possehl Foundation, “the fact that Annika Pinske and Gesine Danckwart lived and worked in Lübeck, and allowed the public to peek into their processes enriched the city itself. And I am sure that Lübeck has also left a trace or two on the projects of the grant recipients.

Martin Rehbock, who heads up the grant programme, added, “we are extremely pleased that our grant could help along the development process of two such special projects. We will be following their further progression closely and wish Annika and Gesine the best of luck with the next steps”.

The recipients of the next round of grants, for 2024/25, will be announced on November 6, 2024, with the opening of the 66th Nordic Film Days Lübeck.
