Sanna, who grew up in the Faroe Islands, is looking forward to the coming year and isn't worried about her long-distance relationship. Marius is love-sick and unsure about meeting new people. Sofus was bullied at school and is so excited on the morning of departure that he can barely eat. Sofie is looking for a place that feels more like home. Samuel loves the sound of rain on the trees outside his bedroom, but he still goes. What ties them all together is a new stage in their lives – a year at the residential Klejtrup music school in northern Denmark. "Something is in motion. Not quite there yet, but in transition". That's how things stand at the beginning of their year away, and they'll stand that way again at the end. "Absolute Beginners" documents what happens during the time in between.
