In My Hand

Immersion 360°, Sápmi / Sweden / Norway / Finland 2025, 24 Min., northern sámi, engl. st, 12 years and older

Activist Niillas Somby tells his story, which goes back to the Alta River protests of the 1970s and 1980s, when the Sámi fought against the construction of a hydroelectric dam on their traditional lands. Somby became quite radical and was arrested. His memories of prison and archival images fuse with surreal encounters, ending in a call to action for the preservation of the natural world.
