The Memory of the Archive

Das Gedächtnis des Archivs / The Memory of the Archive

Filmforum, Germany 2026, 30 Min., ger. OV, engl. st

A brutalist construction of glass, steel, and concrete houses the German Literature Archive Marbach. This is a place interested in more than just collecting and preserving. Its concern is with understanding, including a comprehension of the branching paths that lead from the world to literature. Sketches, notebooks, and floppy disks bear witness. Here people research, wonder, and tour. A sensual, reflective portrait of the archive.
