We Will Not Hate! / Wir werden nicht hassen!

Where does the hate in us and in others come from? This is the question at the heart of the intercultural theatre project "Architecture of Hope", which began in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg in 2022. Local students worked together with young people from Israel, who identified as either Arab or Jewish, to develop a play about spirals of hate and violence, and how we can overcome them. After the performance at the end of the year, the group travelled to Israel to continue the project. Upon arrival in Jerusalem, the young people were confronted with riots. In such a politically charged situation, is it possible to interact with each other on level footing and without prejudice? And what role does German history play in this? A complex undertaking that pushes everyone involved to their limits. The film follows the second chapter of the ambitious project led by the teacher Hèdi Bouden, and sensitively reflects the experiences and emotions of the participants.
