Come to the end of a small road in northwestern Mecklenburg and you will find the Klein Hundorf village cooperative. An experiment started here thirty years ago to try a different kind of existence – both in village life, and in love and partnership. It wasn't easy then and isn’t now. The question of a shared vision and values comes up time and time again. How can space for individual freedom be created? What does community farm life look like after a breakup? It's about responsibility and commitment. But it is also about the future of the village, which was actually supposed to grow. In its early years, director Michael Chauvistré visited the village and observed the beginnings of communal life. This film weaves that older footage into a dialogue with new material. A conversation about dreams and disappointments, about social change, and about the wish to create a just and freely fashioned space for life.
