Seventeen-year-old introvert Chris feels ignored, isolated, and powerless. That all changes when she goes to a climate conscious summer camp with her friend Maja. In the idyllic Swedish countryside, Chris meets with a group of young activists. Slowly she begins to feel seen; she feels like part of the group, and like she could make a difference. But behind the friendly camaraderie and commitment to saving the earth lies an ecofascist organisation whose racist ideology and readiness for violence becomes increasingly more evident. While Maja’s scepticism grows, Chris is unwilling to admit to her own doubts. How far will she go to satisfy her desire to belong? In her debut feature, riveting and disturbing in equal measure, director Sunniva Eir Tangvik Kveum takes a close look at how right-wing ideologies insinuate themselves into modern subcultures and at how easily we can be manipulated through our fears. Radicalisation rarely begins with hate. The film contains scenes with strobe lighting.
