L/Over – ikuisesti minun / L/Over
Series, Finland 2025, 3 x 42 Min., finn. OV, engl. st
Roosa, an editor at a publishing house, and her somewhat older partner Juha, a writer, seem to enjoy a fulfilling relationship. Nevertheless, they are sitting across from a couple’s therapist. In flashbacks it becomes clear that the love the two once shared has been displaced by an increasingly threatening dynamic. The relationship has become toxic, dominated by Juha’s jealousy and Roosa’s fear of changes to her family – which now also includes a child. The nuanced plot line of this series forgoes simplistic victim-perpetrator designations. Instead, "L/Over" explores complex dynamics of power, dependency, and responsibility, asking how and why strong women lose themselves in abusive partnerships.
We will be screening the first three episodes of the six-part series as a German premiere.
