The unbridled joy that makes the old home videos so enchanting is crushed by the mother’s tired voice as she recalls that time. Though the filmmaker’s family emigrated to Florida in 1997, their hopes for a better life remain unfulfilled. Years of exhausting work and mounting difficulties took a toll on the family, while the mother experienced a mental health crisis that eventually led them back to Lithuania.
The film is part of the short film programme Nordic Shorts 4: Afterimages.
