Ilden, Vandet, Jorden, Luften / Fire, Water, Earth, Air

As forest fires, storm surges, and landslides intensify in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and on the Faroe Islands, they are increasingly threatening human habitats. Communities living in these areas are responding differently to the consequences of climate change. A politician is trying to pass climate protection laws against all odds; a fire specialist is researching the spread of fires; and a group of pensioners are wondering if their island might cease to exist in a few years considering the increasingly severe storm surges. Images from various regions of northern Europe are set against a letter, read aloud, from the next generation to the current one. Instead of being an indictment, the letter thanks the people who have recognised the signs of the times, have changed their stance towards the world, and have come to understand the interconnectedness of all life. Produced in collaboration with local film crews using climate-friendly methods, this episodic film is about the power of communities – and a poignant appeal to all of us to change our thinking.
