At first it seems we are watching a conversation between two multi-talented artists. But this soon becomes an intense performance. Before the eyes of her stage partner Tom Remlov—himself a prolific creator of film and theatre—and a spellbound audience, Liv Ullmann, acting legend, director, and author, begins a masterful performance of key memories and anecdotes from her (working) life. She needs no props for this trip through time. Her gestures, facial expressions, perfect timing, and the slightest modulation of her voice are enough to conjure up her interactions with Ingmar Bergmann, or a bizarre and humbling encounter at an Oscar party with Hollywood grande dame Mae West. Short clips, such as the famous monologue from “Face to Face”, which might make you believe that colour film was invented solely for the blue of her eyes, round off this unforgettable rendezvous with the 83-year-old enchantress, who still radiates the irrepressible energy of a young girl.
