Matt Mullican. Mapping the World. 50 Years of Work

Events & Cooperations

American Matt Mullican, who won the 2022 Possehl Prize for International Art, is considered a seminal member of the Pictures Generation that began, at the end of the 1960s to explore the influence of mass-media images on our everyday perceptions and to use art to deconstruct them. It is a subject that is more important than ever in our digital era. For five decades, Mullican has asked questions about the meaning of life and the world order. With a variety of media, he works on an artistic systemisation of his outlook on the world. In 2022, at four spots in Lübeck, he provides a comprehensive look at his work, which has continually gained in significance since the dawn of the digital age.
