Magic Globe – A Story of the Seasons

Mia’s world has turned upside-down. Mama is having a baby and must stay in bed until the end of the summer, which is why Mia will be spending the summer holidays with her grandfather. Everything is strange there – the food, grandpa’s weird contraptions, and especially Mia’s uncle, who’s an actor and is rehearsing a new play. If only you could fast-forward time and skip the summer! But, as Mia learns, there’s a reason for the seasons. The special position of the Earth in our solar system, and its movement around the sun sustain the life of plants, animals, and humans in the cycle of spring, summer, fall, and winter. Grandpa has a lot to tell, for instance about the differences between the northern and southern hemispheres, and he explains to Mia why there is day and night. Aside from all that, he also used to be a real adventurer. “Magic Globe” combines a family story with scientific facts about planet Earth and the seasons. The story raises awareness for being thoughtful about the environment, as well as being conscious about the passing of time.
