A tourist is found dead on the iconic black sand beach at Reynisfjara in southern Iceland. But it might not be an accident. In this emotional crime drama, police detective Anita leaves Reykjavik to return to her remote hometown and investigate the murder. Reuniting with her unstable mother and old friends, she confronts her own complicated history and begins to wonder if the killer could be close to home. Lead actor Aldís Amah Hamilton, whose credits include "The Valhalla Murders" and "Prisoners", brings many layers to Anita beyond her police work. As one of the co-writers of the series, she was also able to exert an influence on the character. The production consulted with a veteran Icelandic police officer on the show’s procedural details in this story partially inspired by true events.
