Zone B

This fresh and funky Finnish short-form series follows a group of teenage friends in multi-cultural East Helsinki whose loyalties are tested when they take part in a music competition. Omar and Dion enter an open mic competition as a rap duo, but will they be able to handle the stress of choosing a band name, shooting a music video with no budget, and tensions within their circle of friends? “Zone B” was created in collaboration with youth instructor and actor Omar Abdi, who starred in the 2021 NFL award-winner “The Gravedigger’s Wife”. The creators used several youth workshops to develop the authentic stories and dialogue. The eight episodes, set to a cool hip-hop soundtrack, take us through an action-packed week full of music, friendship, and laughs, capturing the exuberance of today’s youth.
