The core is “Wood Works”, a unique collection of Scandinavian folk music that the renowned Danish String Quartet has been recording in its own arrangements and releasing since 2013. “Summer Tunes”, the second string quartet by Pēteris Vasks, Latvia’s best known contemporary composer, harks back to a free imitation of birdsong and is emblematic of Vasks’ pantheistic love of nature.
