LIVESHOW: Take Off Sound

In a cooperative project, the dancer and performance artist Tomoko Nakasato and the multimedia studio Ectoplastic Lab explore sound-creation through movement and, conversely, the control of movement through interactive sound. With Tomoko Nakasato acting as a human mixing console, her digital image sends tracking data via wireless motion sensors to generative synths, which convert the sounds into 3D audio effects and create effect chains. Conversely, she interprets musical fragments through urban and contemporary dance elements. The system is based on the self-developed software Mazetools as well as diverse previous sessions in which body-interactive compositions were created. The performance is accompanied by immersive audio-reactive visuals that reflect the sound in fractal geometric patterns.
