After a nervous breakdown, former ski star Jomar Henriksen works guarding a ski park. He no longer has any interest in the sport. So instead of issuing ski passes or making sure the lifts are working, he spends his time relaxing in front of the TV, drinking and smoking. When he hears from a friend that he might be the father of a child that lives in the far north, however, Jomar leaves behind his dissolute life and sets out in that direction on a snowmobile, taking five litres of alcohol with him as his only travel provisions. During the journey, the erstwhile athlete makes the acquaintance of dangerous tanks, a suicidal Sámi, abandoned homes with full refrigerators, and unique ways to get drunk... he may even meet his son. This laconic road movie is a special kind of outdoor adventure – an odyssey through the arctic landscape. At the end of it, a kind of $epiphany% awaits the hero, akin to the way, in $The Magic Mountain%, that Hans Castorp’s final journey ends in the illuminative $snow dream%.
