Ukraine, Soviet Union, 1990. Yasha, 17, plays in a punk band and is called in to the head teacher. He’s written $John Lennon% over his name in his Komsomol ID. And he’s Jewish. Wherever they are, Yasha and his family meet with violence from reactionary forces. The wish to escape and his impotent rage lead Yasha to an action that has grave consequences.
