Unmoored

Maria is a successful television presenter. When she finds out about the shocking allegations against her husband Magnus, her well-honed life falls apart like a house of cards. To reassure themselves about their partnership and to avoid the media spotlight, the couple decide to go travelling for a year. An intense argument on the Polish coast sets off a disastrous chain reaction. Maria escapes by herself to the seclusion of the English moors. The mist-shrouded marshlands reflects her state of mind: a woman on the verge of foundering. On her solitary walks she looks around repeatedly, as if she’s being pursued: by her husband, whom she suddenly sees in a different light; by her feelings of guilt due to Magnus’s sudden disappearance.
Based on a bestseller by Håkan Nesser, the film develops into a suspenseful psychological thriller about a heroine who ultimately must confront years of self-deception.
