What happens when loved ones come back from the dead? When they suddenly appear in front of the refrigerator out of nowhere? The camera captures the shock and joy of the absolutely unexpected reunion from a distance, thereby creating space for the contradictory nature of the feelings. This somewhat unusual zombie film starts with various forms of grief – a young woman seems almost frozen going through the motions of her everyday life; a family drifts apart; a pensioner settles into her loneliness. Then the earth quakes, car alarms are set off, and traffic lights go crazy as the dead come back to life. Yet death hasn’t changed only their appearance – they are unresponsive, seem apathetic, and are increasingly threatening. The consolation their return brought is short-lived. Maybe they didn’t return to deliver their loved ones of their suffering? What exactly does their resurrection signify?
