A black cat with glowing yellow eyes is going along its way. Suddenly, leaves swirl through the air; the wind picks up and whistles through the treetops. The ground beneath the cat‘s paws is getting increasingly wet. As the land transforms into a gigantic waterscape, the cat finds refuge on a rickety sailboat.
The film’s naturalistic animation creates deep, sharp images of what looks like endless nature that has reclaimed the earth. Everything has a particular structure, everything seems alive: rippling waves, the fine bifurcations of a leaf. The remnants of human civilisation protrude eerily from the water. A handful of animals seems to be the last survivors. The solitary cat, a sleepy capybara, a proud secretary bird, a playful golden retriever, and an impish little wet-nosed monkey form an unorthodox, wordless community of solidarity. The animals could act out according to their own individual natures on this Noah's Ark – yet at the decisive moment, they move closer together.
