The documentary “Svārstības” is a portrait of three female theologians who are putting up a fight against the Latvian Lutheran church’s policy of no longer ordaining women. Is a woman bound to obey when the church wants her to be silent? One of the film’s protagonists, Pastor Dace Balode, talks to pastor Zanda Ohff about how the women’s faith has given Latvian theologians the courage to raise their voices against the church’s order of silence.
