Gespräch zum Film „Homecoming“: Kulturgüter der Sámi in Lübeck / Discussion of the film “Homecoming”: Sámi Cultural Heritage Goods in Lübeck

The documentary “Homecoming” looks at the importance of returning to the Sámi cultural items appropriated by various museums in their northern Scandinavian home regions. The ethnographic collection held by Lübeck’s museums also contains some 100 Sámi objects, some of which were brought to Lübeck more than 300 years ago. The museum’s director, Dr Lars Frühsorge, has tackled the issue of what those objects say about the difficult historical relations between the Sámi and Germany. He will talk to Suvi West, the film’s director, about the significance of those objects to the Sámi and what future use of them might look like.
