Postkolonialer Stadtspaziergang / A Post-colonial Walk Through the City

In honour of the screening of “Togoland Projections” which deals with Germany’s colonial responsibilities, Lübeck’s Ethnology Museum invites guests to take post-colonial walk through the city. Historian Stella Barsch will guide a tour of original locales and talk about the forgotten role that Lübeck played in the colonial era. Among other topics, she will talk about the trade in colonial wares, Lübeck citizens in the colonial regions, and what were called ethnological expositions, also known as human zoos, where living people from “primitive” societies were put on display for the public.
