What does the Baltic coast have to offer young people today? What are their career opportunities? Should they stay or should they go if tourism is the only option? Max, Maria, Long, and Jakob have all chosen to apprentice in the hospitality industry at a hotel on Usedom. The film follows the four young people during their three years of training, as they search for their own paths amidst new beginnings, ties to home, and vague longings. Their apprenticeship is overshadowed by the Corona pandemic. In interviews, the four talk about their lives, about growing up, and about their dreams, as well as about the pressures and expectations they face. This documentary provides insights into the development and challenges of a booming industry that leads to the continuous construction of new and modern houses along the coastline, while the interior becomes more and more desolate.
