The Russian president usually gives his New Year's address in front of the Kremlin. This year, he stood before of a group of soldiers. The film distorts the TV images: while Putin speaks, the focus is on a young soldier in the background. His face tells us much – and nothing. Putin's voice becomes quieter while other sounds push themselves into the foreground.
