Lübeck, Nov. 6, 2017. The 59th Nordic Film Days Lübeck (Nov. 1 – 5, 2016) closed on Sunday after 266 screenings of a total of 195 films. The artistic director Linde Fröhlich and festival manager Florian Vollmers were both upbeat, with a total of 33,000 visitors, the Film Days once again bested the previous record, making 2017 the year with the greatest number of visitors in the festival’s history. The 59th Nordic Film Days Lübeck present 18 international short films, the “Nordic Shorts”, in three programme blocks, “Bizarre Episodes”, “Transported and Uncoupled”, and “Day-to-day Routine”, including 13 German premieres. The “Children and Youth Film” section will also screen shorts divided into blocks for various age groups, and the Filmforum, the northern German section of the festival will show a total of five blocks of shorts. More than half of the Competition films are directing debuts. More

Feb. 13, 2017 - The 59th Nordic Film Days Lübeck will see some personnel changes. Florian Vollmers has joined the festival management team and will take over as managing director on July 1, 2017. The 43-year-old Vollmers was most recently director of the Osnabrück Independent Film Festival (Unabhängiges Filmfest) and is an aficionado of northern European cinema. After graduating in media sciences and Scandinavian studies, Florian Vollmers worked as a journalist; he headed up the Nordic Film Days press and PR office from 2007 to 2012. After six years at the helm, Christian Modersbach is stepping down from the NFL management team on June 30, 2017; he will continue to work on special events, and on the new festival section devoted to TV series. Lübeck, Nov. 7, 2016. The 58th Nordic Film Days Lübeck (Nov. 2 – 6, 2016) came to a festive close on Sunday after 250 screenings of a total of 185 films. There was enormous interest among visitors for the festival’s newest attractions, such as Scandinavian TV series, virtual reality stations and the fulldome 360° cinema. With a total of 32,000 visitors, more people than ever came to Lübeck for the NFL, making it the largest influx of attendees in the history of the festival. More
Lübeck, Nov. 5, 2016.The debut feature “Heartstone” (Hjartasteinn) by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson is the winner of the NDR Film Prize at the 58th Nordic Film Days Lübeck (Nov. 2 – 6, 2016). Accepting the award as part of the gala Film Prize Night in Theater Lübeck, the young Icelandic director expressed delight at winning the prize with its 12,500 euro endowment, the largest in the festival.
