Josef Omgang is a lawyer in Oslo. He left his hometown of Korshavn as a child, after his mother disappeared without a trace. Now he has returned to the village to help his father, Vilhelm Omgang. The older man, who heads up the Omgang Fishing Company, is in deep debt to his German partner, who originally came to Norway as a Nazi officer. Meanwhile, a Russian crime lord is trying to take over the fish export industry. Back home, Josef is confronted with old family secrets … Amid the Arctic landscape, director Knut Erik Jensen serves up (per a Variety review) “a difficult but fascinating brew of obsession, murder, sex, money, family guilt and post-war politics”. Among the notable ingredients it contains is a fish processing machine built by the Rudolf Baader tool and die company, which was founded in Lübeck 101 years ago.
