Special, Norway 2011, 96 Min., German subtitles
Anna is a caring mother. A little too caring, perhaps? But then she has had some bad experiences, after all. In order for her to find shelter from her violent husband, the youth welfare office has helped her and her son Anders move into a new apartment in a large, anonymous housing estate. However, the anxiety regarding her eight-year-old leaves her no peace. In order to be close to him even at night, when he sleeps in his own room, she buys a baby monitor. But Anna's fears grow immeasurable when she hears screams from the monitor one night that point to a child's murder in the near vicinity. Delusion or reality? From now on Anna loses all control of her life ... After "Next Door" (NFL 2005), the new psychological thriller by the Norwegian genre expert Pål Sletaune once more reveals the horror that lurks within our own four walls. "Babycall" is the psychological study of a woman who finds it increasingly difficult to differentiate between imagination and reality - a role brilliantly and convincingly played by Noomi Rapace, star of the "Millennium" trilogy.
