Mia is in her mid-thirties when she visits her father to tell him about her impending wedding with the successful businessman Tim. But at the family celebration she meets Frida, the daughter of her father's new fiancée. The two women, stepsisters in a newly arranged patchwork family, fall deeply in love. Mia and Frida secretly meet in a holiday house on the archipelago. But soon their affair is revealed. Not only must Mia confess to her bisexuality, but she must decide between marriage and a life beyond social conventions. After Lukas Moodysson's "Fucking Åmål" about teenage lesbian love, Alexandra-Therese Keining's feature film debut is the first Swedish film about lesbian love between grown-ups. The director allows a socially charged, passionate romantic drama to unfold in beautifully composed images, set against the backdrop of emotive Swedish summer landscapes and starring a brilliant cast including Lena Endre and Krister Henriksson.
