18-year old Simon suffers from Asperger syndrome, an autistic developmental disorder that makes a highly regulated everyday life without any surprizes imperative for survival. After Simon's fastidiousness drives his older brother's girlfriend out of the apartment, he begins to search for an ideal woman. And he learns that a little chaos and unpredictability are imperative for love. Inspired by a book about Asperger syndrome, director Andreas Öhman and scriptwriter Jonathan Sjöberg initially intended to make a short film, but decided in mid-production to make the project into a full-length feature. With success: "Simple Simon" is an intelligent and highly entertaining comedy that picks up on the subject of autism in a competent and multi-layered manner and embeds it in a love story that captivates the audience. Simultaneously, this graduation film uses an impressive innovative imagery that integrates Simon's inner world of thought in the form of graphic elements.
