Tusen gånger starkare

15-year old Signe is in 9th grade at a Swedish secondary school. She is quite inconspicuous both in the classroom and in the school yard – as a matter of fact, all of the girls tend to play second fiddle. It is the boys who dominate the school world and call the shots. Until, one day, the new girl Saga arrives. She has spent a few years abroad and is brimming with self-confidence, and she is ten times as strong as anyone else – at least this is how Signe and her fellow schoolgirls perceive her. Saga even dares to challenge the male top dog, unleashing a battle of the sexes that utterly revolutionizes the conditions at Signe's school. The film is based on Christina Herrström's novel of the same title, which caused a stir as a harsh critique of the battle of the sexes at Swedish schools four years ago and was awarded several youth literature prizes. The film adaptation by Herrström's husband Peter Schildt received excellent reviews for its furious dialogues, its convincing cast and its fast-paced style of direction.
