Norwegian engineer Jo has been working on the oil fields of Trinidad for some time now. Now his wife and two little children have joined him. It is Sonia's first contact with the "Jet Set" of international migrant workers – such as her husband – and their wives, who follow their husbands across the globe. Viewed superficially, they live a life of luxury, with spacious villas and servants. But in actual fact their life in the tropics is marked by lethargy and boredom. Languidly the days pass by in a never-ending holiday. Vanity and desire begin to grow in the hot climate, at the poolside, at garden parties and in the country club ... Maria Sødahl: "I've wanted to tell an exotic and low key love story, true to Sonia's perception of the world – a portrait of a woman's experience of loosing herself for the very first time – and a married couple's struggle to find a way back to each other." "Limbo" is not just a Carribbean dance. "Limbo" is also a state between life and death.
